This is NOT what it looks like.

Because it looks like more gratuitous pictures of my babies.
When actually this is photographic evidence that both kids were fed, dressed, and ready for errands at 8:30 a.m.
Huzzah!

And while I'm talking about how things look...does anyone know how to reach the middle ground between freaky flash and a totally washed out image?

I love all the pictures of the babies. Since we are so far away, it's nice that we still get to see them grow!

And I have that picture problem too. Sometimes I just take 2 pictures of everything (1 w/ flash, 1 w/o) and then see which one turned out better. When the flash pictures are too harsh (or freaky :) ), I try to adjust the washed out non-flash pictures. I don't know what picture program you use on your computer, but in Windows Photo Gallery (this is what comes already installed on my PC and what I use), I can manually edit my pictures. When I am looking at a single photo, there is a tab at the top that says "fix" and then a right side-bar pops up so I can adjust the brightness, contrast, saturation, crop, etc. If you increase the contrast on the washed out images, it makes them look better and sharper. Playing with the brightness and saturation can also make the colors in your pictures more vivid.

I would think a lot of simple picture programs come with these adjustment options. Just look for brightness, contrast, and saturation in the edit or some other menu.

Sorry for the long explanation. I hope that makes some sort of sense...
